How to Groom Your Pomeranian and Why This is So Important

Author:
C. Covington

Grooming your Pomeranian is important for his well-being. A Pomeranian should have a full grooming done every 4 to 6 weeks. They should have maintenance grooming done twice weekly at a minimum.

If you are going to groom your Pomeranian yourself, there are certain tools that you will need including a slicker brush, scissors, matte comb and metal comb. Pomeranians have a dense undercoat and an outer coat that is coarse. The density of the Pomeranians coat can be confusing to a novice groomer. When finishing up the grooming process, brush the coat in an upward fashion. This will add volume to the coat.

The Pomeranian's coat should be brushed frequently. If you start with the head and part the coat and then brush forward, it will naturally fall back in place. So while this whole process can be time consuming, it isn't hard to do. At times a dry shampoo may be necessary. The eyes and ears should be cleaned daily and don't forget to take your pet to the vet for regular checkups.

In addition to the above, make sure that your Pomeranian receives good dental care. This breed has a tendency to lose teeth, so regular teeth cleaning is necessary. It will help if you give your pet quality dry food. This will help keep the dog's teeth and gums healthy.

As your Pomeranian gets older, he will go through changes in his coat. When your dog is shedding, extra brushing will very likely be required. During shedding the old coat needs to be removed quickly so the new coat can come in easier.

Also, if the old loose hair is not removed, it will likely cause terrible matted hair. And if it goes too far, the only thing that can be done to fix this is to cut the hair. If you are consistent in your grooming, then this will never be a problem.

You will also want to pay attention to the areas behind the ears and also the groin areas. The hair in these areas tends to become matted and tangled.

Grooming your Pomeranian is very important. It is not usually a difficult process, but it can be time consuming and will obviously cost more money if you use a professional. You must put forth the effort to groom your pet and this will help him lead a happy and fulfilling life.

The Best Way to Train a Pit Bull
The first type of training people consider with a dog is usually potty training.  If you’ll have your dog in the house often or most of the time, it will need to know how to get out to go potty.  You can buy books on training of all sorts, including potty training.  You must be willing to invest the time, effort, and patience no matter what type of training you’ll need for your dog.  Even if someone else trains your dog, you’ll have to learn the commands and follow through once you get the dog back in your care. Training a pitbull is really a lot like training any other dog.  The sooner you begin, the better off you both are. You’ll want to at least teach your dog self-control.  This is almost essential when owning a pit bull because they play rough when they do play.  They are very strong and very stubborn animals, but these can be positive attributes.  The dog must know that you are master from the...
