The American Spaniel Club, Inc., is a great organization for owners of Cocker Spaniels.  The Constitution of the American Spaniel Club defines its purpose as follows:   "The object of the Club shall be the encouragement of the promotion, breeding and protection of all Sporting Spaniels, and the offering of prizes at Bench Shows, Obedience Trials and Field Trials when so authorized by the Executive Committee of this Club.”  In order to be considered for membership, you are required to obtain the signature of your Zone Director;  the signatures of two Sponsors who are members of the ASC, have not sponsored more than two applicants during the calendar year, and are not members of your household;  payment in full;  and your signed Code of Ethics Card.  This information should be mailed to Jane Harmon, ASC Membership Chair, 45 Ontario Drive, Hudson, Massachusetts, 01749.  Ms. Harmon's telephone is 978-562-9696;  she can also be contacted at jbh728@aol.com.  The next Cocker Spaniel National is scheduled to be held in Oklahoma City from July 19-22, 2007.
Each Zone has its own member clubs. The dues to join the American Spaniel Club are $145. per couple, or $75 for an individual.  The American Spaniel Club is one of the finest organizations for Cocker Spaniel owners.

Dealing with English Cocker Spaniels, the English Cocker Spaniel Club, which was founded in 1936, also has regional clubs. “For further information and/or  application, contact the ECSCA Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Kate Romanski, P.O. Box 252, Hales Corners, Wisconsin 53130.”

If your puppy is registered, membership in the American Kennel Club also has many benefits.  Your dog will be listed in the AKC registry, and you will receive an AKC registration certificate.  You will also receive a complimentary trial healthcare plan for your dog, and a certificate for his first veterinarian visit.  You will receive a new puppy handbook, free e-certificates,  a three-generation AKC-certified pedigree,  and will be eligible to participate in various events with your Cocker Spaniel.  Membership in the American Kennel Club will also afford you the opportunity to interact with other Cocker Spaniel owners in their regional clubs.  Your registration in the American Kennel Club will assist in supporting a number of educational and health programs.  For details and further information, you can contact the AKC Customer Care service at 919-233-9767.
