The Many Positive Traits of the Pomeranian

Author:
C. Covington

The Pomeranian has many positive traits that have made them a very popular breed worldwide. They are extraordinarily extroverted and fun pets. So what makes the Pomeranian desirable as a pet?

1. Pomeranians make great companion dogs. They are outgoing and intelligent, resulting in hours of enjoyment for the family. Without question Pomeranians are very loyal to their owners. People of all ages will enjoy a Pomeranian.

2. Pomeranians are adaptable and don't require a lot of space. They can thrive in various city settings. Because of their ancestry, they have strong hunting instincts and can also thrive in country settings. So, if your family has future plans to move to the city or the country, your Pomeranian can move with you with no problems at all.

3. Pomeranians are usually fine with other pets. They are generally okay with other dogs, especially if they are raised with them. Pomeranians are not typically temperamental but they can be jealous. Of course, the same can be said of most dogs. Most dogs can be jealous at times.

4. Pomeranians are good watchdogs. Instinctively they will bark when intruders approach the home. Keep in mind that they may bark incessantly without the proper training and if they get bored.

5. Pomeranians only require a small amount of exercise. Now this may not necessarily be a benefit if you enjoy taking your pet on long daily walks. But if your time is limited, like it is with many people these days, then you probably don't have a lot of extra time. Pomeranians don't need much space or time to meet their daily exercise requirements.

6. Pomeranians are intelligent. As a result they are fast learners and respond to calm but firm commands. Training can be done with good success if you show the proper patience and don't give up. It is worth the effort. Keep in mind that they respond better to positive reinforcement and not stern discipline.

7. Pomeranians can be housebroken with the proper training. Just be consistent in your training and you will see good results. With proper training, a Pomeranian can be housebroken in a week's time.

As you can see, the Pomeranian has many positive traits. No wonder they are so popular! If you are searching for an excellent family pet that you will enjoy for years to come, than definitely consider a Pomeranian.

What Should You Feed Your Pomeranian And How Much
In order to have a healthy Pomeranian, a healthy diet is very important. Feeding your pet high quality foods will help it live a long and happy life. So what should you feed your Pomeranian? First find out from the breeder what they were feeding your Pomeranian before you purchased him. Once you begin feeding your new pet, make sure that you continue feeding him the same foods. If you don't do this, then it will likely cause digestive problems for your pet. If you don't plan on feeding your dog the same food, then gradually wean him off the old food and replace it with the new food. Also try to maintain the same feeding schedule and times of the day that you feed your Pomeranian. It is recommended to feed Pomeranian puppies at least three times a day. Also make sure they have access to dry food and water at all times It is important to understand that there is not a strict formula that can be applied to every dog. There are guidelines that we can go by, but...
