What Should You Feed Your Pomeranian? And How Much?

Author:
C. Covington

In order to have a healthy Pomeranian, a healthy diet is very important. Feeding your pet high quality foods will help it live a long and happy life. So what should you feed your Pomeranian?

First find out from the breeder what they were feeding your Pomeranian before you purchased him. Once you begin feeding your new pet, make sure that you continue feeding him the same foods. If you don't do this, then it will likely cause digestive problems for your pet.

If you don't plan on feeding your dog the same food, then gradually wean him off the old food and replace it with the new food. Also try to maintain the same feeding schedule and times of the day that you feed your Pomeranian.

It is recommended to feed Pomeranian puppies at least three times a day. Also make sure they have access to dry food and water at all times

It is important to understand that there is not a strict formula that can be applied to every dog. There are guidelines that we can go by, but each dog is different and have their own needs.

One guideline that we can go by is that small dogs have a different metabolism from large dogs. For example, a Great Dane that weighs 100 pounds needs to consume about 23 calories per pound of body weight. A Pomeranian weighing 6 pounds needs to consume 47 calories per pound of body weight each day. So a Pomeranian needs to consume more than twice as much food per pounds of body weight.

So where should you begin? First make sure that you give your dog quality food. This is very important. Poor quality food is actually more expensive and will also produce more waste. High quality food can help alleviate digestive problems and behavioral problems that may have otherwise developed.

Make sure to choose food that has been formulated with a good combination of nutrients. The more easily your pet can digest the food that you feed it, the more nutrients they will be able to utilize.

A Pomeranian does not require much food on a daily basis. But this makes it even more important that the food that it does eat is high quality. Take the time to feed your Pomeranian high quality food and he will live a long and healthy life.

The Negative Traits of Pekingese
Pekingese are usually called a ‘toy’ dog breed. They are small dogs of a maximum fourteen pounds, average of 6 to 9 inches in height and have a long gorgeous coat of hair. They are intelligent dogs that are also affectionate with their owners. There are quite a few negative traits to Pekingese. Some people may not find these as being negative traits on the other hand. For instance, Pekingese tend to bark a lot. Many people would not be able to tolerate a dog’s constant barking, but some people are able to. Therefore, they would not see this as a negative trait. Pekingese should receive daily grooming. Brushing and combing your Pekingese will ensure their coat stays long and sharp. Female Pekingese will shed the under layer of their coat come ‘that’ time of season. During this time it is best to always remember to brush them and keep any hair from getting matted or tangled.
